Will my insurance cover treatments?

Every insurance company is different and every plan is different, not all insurance companies and not all plans cover every type of treatment. We will verify your insurance for you on your first visit and will let you know exactly what is covered and what is your responsibility. However, if you have Medicare, the only coverage you have is for spinal manipulation; Medicare does not cover exams, x-rays and therapies. We will work with you and your insurance company to ensure you can continue your required care, and as a courtesy to all our patients we will file your claims for you.

How long will by first visit take?

Your first visit includes a thorough history and physical, including orthopedic and neurological evaluation, x-rays IF required, as well as treatment. Typically this process can take 45 minutes to an hour. It is possible to decrease this time by downloading and printing our new patient forms off the website. If that is not possible, we recommend arriving 20 minutes early to fill out the appropriate forms and please bring drivers license and insurance card. Please arrive on time, as a courtesy to the patients scheduled before and after you, as we may provide them with the same quality time we intend to provide to you.

Are X-rays required?

No, not every patient requires x-rays. However, Dr. Marien does have specific guidelines as to which patients “require” x-rays.

  1. Over 65
  2. History of cancer
  3. Recent injury within 1 year
  4. Recent surgery within 1 year
  5. No prior chiropractic treatment
  6. No previous x-rays
  7. X-rays or reports (within two years) NOT available for review

Does the Dr. Treat on the first visit?

Yes, you will be treated on the first visit. Although in some cases if your condition is complicated, acute, if a referral is needed, or if advanced imaging is required you may not be treated on your first visit. However, all attempts will be made to make you as comfortable as possible while in the clinic.

How long until I feel results?

This is a loaded question. Most patients who do not have a neurological condition or an orthopedic instability respond immediately. However, in some cases it does take time to identify the cause of the pain or dysfunction, as well as to determine what the patient should and shouldn’t be doing in order to avoid aggravating their symptoms. There are many influences to a patient’s condition, including family history, overall health, medications, activity level, body type, age, and many other aspects of a patient’s presentation that will dictate their progressive course through a treatment plan. In some rare cases, when a referral is needed to rule out or rule in a more serious problem, patients may experience exacerbations, but overall we strive towards resolution of the patient’s problem. It is common to have an exacerbation of your problems, as heeling is not linear. Overall pain and the patient’s symptoms do not decrease in a straight line, but they do go up and down. However, the trend of healing IS linear and generally speaking most people show 80% improvement in 20% of the time. It is the last 20% of healing that takes 80% of the time. We will give you all the tools, information, and exercises you need to reach full resolution as fast as possible.

Is Dr. Marien the Team Chiropractor for The Florida Everblades?

Yes, Dr. Marien has been the teams Chiropractor since the 2005-06. He is actively involved on the medical staff and is present to treat the team at every home game.

How often will I have to be treated?

Every patient and every condition is different, yet Dr. Marien recommends a condition specific treatment plan to each patient. Treatment plans include what we will provide for you as well as what you will need to do for yourself to help your condition. Treatment plans vary greatly, and we do have “maintenance” patients, however, we always strive towards full resolution of an acute injury or condition. The only requirement that Dr. Marien has for a new patient is that the patient be re-evaluated or treated again within 48 hours, as this is in the best interest of your condition and is the safest step towards preventing any exacerbation of your symptoms.

Do you accept Worker's Compensation?

Unfortunately, due to the strenuous legal channels involved in the process, we do not treat patients in Florida Workers Comp Cases, but we do accept New York and Ohio Workers Comp. However, we will gladly refer you to a provider that does take Florida WC patients in a timely manner.

Does the clinic provide Physical Therapy?

ABSOLUTELY! We have a fully equipped rehab suite with three Cybex machines as well as condition specific equipment for in clinic rehab and at home rehab. Dr. Marien offers and provides each patient with the tools, education and opportunity to rehab and improve their condition as aggressively as possible. Our clinic has the capability to rehab just about any injury or post surgery condition; yet we will not hesitate to refer you to a full time physical therapy clinic if we cannot provide you with the time your condition requires.

Do you have a Massage Therapist on staff?

Yes we do. Our therapist is very experienced in many different techniques of massage. She is available by appointment at the patient’s convenience, and she is very cost effective. Unfortunately we do not bill insurance for massage services, yet the fees are very competitive and cost effective.
